The fee of this manor purchased by the Lady Sydenham

 

Thomas Bryant his own and William Bryants lifes in being in 10 acres of overland £5

Slocombe hath agreed with Bryant for his estate will --- and take further estate rent 5s

John 65, Lucy 24 and Elinor 22 Downe all living a house and 4 acres £5

 

A heriot due on the life of Isot Downe who dyed about 3 years since.  John Downe wisheth to pay a heriot upon the death of his wife who was a tenant in possession

He is presented as tenant in reversion of his wife

 

A tenement[1] and 8 acres of a:a; late in ye tenure of Grace Dudridge alias Court and after her the reversion to Mary (mort) and (crossed out Eliz) Bridget Biffin (crossed out both) living £9

 

Thomas Osmond hath bought the interest of the said Mary and Eliz and contracted for further estate with ye Dean and Chapter at the rate of 6s per annum being worth £9 per annum for £8 fine

A heriot due on the death of Grace Court the last tenant in possession

Presented by ye homage a pig prised 4s

 

John Farthing 65 for his life after him Nich 40 and Mary 42 Dudridge 10 acres pasture land £8

 

Nicholas Hawkins 70 and after him Christopher Hawkins 34 both living a tenement[2] and 20 acres a:a and a cottage with a curtilage 3 acres of overland £28

 

The said Christopher hath contracted for 3 lives now in reversion at the rate of £16 p annum being worth £28 and gives £7 for his fine

 

The wid of Wm Hawkins enjoys 18 acres of barren ground for her widowhood £1:4:0

 

The said Christopher hath contracted for the lives now in reversion at ye rate of vi s per annum being worth xxiii s per annum and gives £3 for his fine

 

Mary Lewis 58 wid a tenement[3] and 10 acres a. a and 3 closes of over land for her life £18

The reversion hereof claimed by Conant Lewes Agnes Beadon and Mary Dowell but noe coppy yet produced

And for a heriot after the death of Wm Lewes husband of the said Mary

 

She Mary Lewis payed a heriot to ye Lady Sydenham She will enter her desire against ye next chapter jan 10 and shew her papers and refer herself to ye Dean and Chapter

 

Edward Locton in possession and Mary Trevellian and Christopher Clarke in reversion all living hold a tenement[4] of 30 acres a:a £20

The reversion herof claymed by John, Thomas and Anne Merry but noe coppy yet produced

 

The parsonage of Stogumber and Bicknoller granted to Sir Raph Sydenham and others for the lives of John Sydenham (mort) Esq Edward Saffin 38 and Hugh Saffin 35 val per annum £220
